Claude now names you 3rd
Nike rankings over 7 daysOne chat tells you very little.
Ask Claude the same question three times and you can get three different answers. One spot check can’t show where you stand. A daily record can.
Trakkr asks every morning and keeps every answer, so your place comes from weeks of answers, not one chat.
Best running shoes for flat feet?
For flat feet, most runners do best in a stable shoe with firm arch support. The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 24 is the usual pick. The Nike Structure 25 is a close second: a softer ride, and it comes in wide. For longer runs, try the New Balance 860v14.

Claude cites it in 3 of 4 answers. Trakkr drafted the pitch. The model that doesn't show its work
Few citations, reasoned judgments.
Ask Claude to recommend a product and you usually get a reasoned, qualitative answer, and no citations. Where Perplexity prints its sources, Claude's opinion of your brand is mostly baked in from training: years of documentation, reviews, comparisons, and discussions compressed into a judgment it states with confidence.
That changes what tracking means. You can't inspect the sources behind a Claude answer, so the only way to know where you stand is to measure the answers themselves: systematically, over time, across the prompts your buyers ask. One manual spot-check tells you almost nothing; a daily series tells you your trajectory.
It matters because of who's asking. Claude skews toward professionals, developers, and enterprise teams: people running real evaluations. Trakkr tracks how Claude describes you, who it puts ahead of you, and the exact wording of its hedges, which is often where the real competitive intel hides.
Four patterns that show up almost every time we run Claude
Observations from running buyer-intent prompts against Claude daily. Directional, not benchmarked. The published numbers live in Trakkr Research.
Descriptions are consistent
Claude describes brands in remarkably similar terms across sessions. That consistency makes sentiment measurable, and makes a negative framing worth taking seriously, because every buyer hears it.
Incumbents hold their slots
Claude's training-data authority favors established brands. Challengers rarely displace a category leader in memory answers, but hedges and qualifiers reveal where the leader is vulnerable.
The hedge is the insight
"X is excellent, though pricing is opaque." That qualifier is what buyers remember. Tracking Claude's hedges about you (and rivals) surfaces objections you can actually fix.
Search mode behaves differently
When Claude searches the web, citations appear and recency starts to matter, and the answer behaves more like Perplexity. The same prompt can produce both behaviors on different days.
What Trakkr records in Claude
Every daily run keeps the full Claude answer, so each signal can be checked against the words behind it.
Brand mentions
Every time Claude names your brand across discovery, comparison, recommendation, and evaluation prompts.
Descriptions & sentiment
The exact language Claude uses about you. "Powerful but complex" and "the easy choice" send buyers different directions, and both are trackable.
Competitor positioning
Who Claude recommends first, who it pairs you against, and the qualifiers it attaches to each brand in your category.
Search-mode citations
When Claude does search the web, Trakkr captures the cited URLs: a rare direct look at which pages speak for your brand.
Visibility trend
One Claude score rolling up mention rate, position, and sentiment, tracked daily across your full prompt set.
Change alerts
Notifications when Claude's description of you shifts, a competitor overtakes your slot, or a new brand enters your category's answers.
A repeatable Claude manual check
Two buyer questions and a few fixed controls turn a spot check into evidence you can compare.
Start with two buyer questions
- 1
Recommend three [category] products for [buyer need], with the trade-offs for each.
- 2
How does [your brand] compare with [competitor] for [buyer need]?
Record the controls with the answer
Start a new conversation. Record the Claude model, whether web search was available or used, the brands named, answer order, citations, location, and date.
Limit: Claude may answer from model knowledge or web results, depending on the product and account. An answer without links still shows brand and competitor signals, but it does not prove that no source influenced it.
Set up a useful daily record
Three steps from your domain to a record you can read every morning.
Add your brand
Enter your domain, review the buyer questions and choose the competitors you want to compare.
Run Claude daily
Trakkr queries Claude against your prompts every day, recording the full answer, each brand mentioned, its position, the exact descriptive language used, and any cited URLs.

Usually not. Most Claude answers come from training data and state judgments without citations. When Claude uses web search, citations do appear, but you can't rely on them being there. That's why Claude tracking is output-based: you measure what it says, daily, rather than auditing a source list it doesn't show.
